6 months shy of warranty period

clear No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not surprising that we are at the 18th month (beyond the 12mo warranty), and the unit has stopped working. Well, it still sucks air but it sounds like there is an airplane under the counter ready to take off with a bird stuck in its propellers. This is the second unit we've had and hoped for a longer life than 18 months.

I am replacing an old downdraft and had high expectations that this one would be much better than the old one. Not sure it is any better and I wish I didn’t have to use this type of vent. It was very tricky for the installer because my old vent had a much smaller fan (under the cooktop) . The bulky part which is in the cabinet below the cooktop takes up a lot of space that I used to use for storing pots and pans.
