I replaced a Kitchenaid Pro 600 with the KSM 8990 Commercial mixer. A well deserved upgrade. I made bread weekly and this mixer does a great job. Kneading time is cut in half. Easily kneads a 2 loaf recipe (7 cups flour). I was concerned that a 1 loaf recipe would not work well but was pleased that it did a great job (3 cups flour). I did call the company about a rhythmic click, click noise when under load but they assured me that it was not an issue. Possible future concerns. Of course it is under a 2 year warranty if it does become a problem. It is a heavy machine. It does not "walk" around like the Pro 600 did. It fits under the upper cabinets on the counter snuggly. Looking forward to years of use.
Great KA for a baking/pastry student

I bought this a week ago and I've always gotten plent of use out of this KA and it's perfect! I'm going to school for baking and pastry arts and I've made triple batches of cookies with it, cupcakes, icing, and more! Love it!
Powerful and Plentiful!

As a cottage industry baker, I've owned two kitchenaid stand mixers - a 5 qt and a 6 qt. Both were wonderful, but now that i'm making larger cakes (full sheet cakes) I needed a mixer with more power and more capacity. My new commercial 8-qt mixer meets those needs and then some! And, although it's a commercial mixer, it still looks great in my kitchen - the dark grey cabinet is handsome and sleek. I would highly recommend it for any "home" baker.
For me the standard both for home and in the restaurant
