I bought this last Christmas and hadn't used it as we were moving. The third time using the shredder, the clear top piece broke off. I didnt have anything in there that would have caused this. I had the old model for years and this new version is not as good as the old one. Not something I would expect from Kitchenaid.

I love the way this grinds cheese! Expecially soft cheese. Amazing. I do wish it had a second slicer wheel that sliced a little thicker, so I could use it to make pickles. The KitchenAid website, however, is super lousy. It took me several hours to place a order, kept directing me to temporarily down for maintenance. The website has been down more than up, during a week, when I am trying to do my Holiday shopping!!!

Bought this specifically for shredding. It is so much easier to use than the mandoline I had previously. And so much safer to use. The only disappointment is that the white plastic got stained by carrot juice when I shredded them...
