Had high hopes

After reading all the reviews I had high hopes that this washer/dryer would do an adequate job but it seems like that isnt the case. As others mentioned the controls take a bit to get used to but after using it for a couple of weeks my view is that its not too flexible when it comes to customizing the wash/dry cycles. Im hoping that its just me not knowing how to use it but I dont think thats the case. For my washes and drying I usually dont use the default settings since its either not at the temperature I need or the length of time I need the cycle to last. With my old washers I can easily change the settings manually but with this unit I have to go through a somewhat extended process to achieve what I want. There really should be a way to save my choices as a custom setting so that I dont have to do it every time but it seems like there isnt. Another thing thats disappointing is that I dont think its washing the clothes clean. I even used they heavy soil setting but it didnt help. My kid is in basketball and lately the clothes have been soaked with sweat. I used to not wash it right away and as you can imagine the smell of the clothes was awful. I had to presoak the clothes to get rid of the smell. This time I decided to wash it right away. Knowing that the sweat drenched the clothes I added Lysol pretreatment to the wash and set the soil level to heavy. When the wash was completed to over two hours I started emptying the clothes into the dryer but noticed that there was still some lingering scent is sweat. This leads me to think that the unit isnt doing a good job with the wash. As for the drying similar to the wash theres not custom setting to save my choices. Whats even worst is that I cant seem to find a way to manually set the unit to dry my clothes for longer than 60 minutes. If I known how restricting this set was I might have not purchased it. Im hoping that LG can update their software to this unit so that itll allow more customization. I doubt it but I can hope right?

The unit was installed at the end of August. Now that I have been using it for almost a month I really love both units. So quiet and clean well and I really like the controls in the middle. Very pleased with my purchase.

The family has used this unit a few times throughout the past few weeks and we love it so far. The spin wash cycles are quick and the dryer gets the job done with the specified settings. Coming from another brand the LG washer/dryer combo is much more efficient at getting the job done in a smaller form factor. The only reason for giving the combo unit a 4/5 star rating is the WiFi setup and app are a little clunky to use for multiple users and it would be nice to have more customization for phone push notifications. The WiFi options are also a bit limited but most of the time someone is at home anyway to check up on the unit. Another ding for the score is the dryer gasket tends to attract a lot of lint so after every use the lint collection net the gasket and the floor of the unit needs to be cleaned up a bit before putting the next load in.

After years of washing at laundromats where clothes got clean now with this Washtower they get clean to a new much higher level yes its noticeable. When in operation it is so comparatively quiet that I can take a nap within 10 feet. Plus the ending chime is a very nice bonus feature. Serves its purpose and gets the job done in the nicest most pleasant way possible. A bit of a learning curb took a while to find Tub Clean under Bedding but nothing major. Very happy and grateful I pulled-the-trigger on this well-designed and built LG machine.

These are my first LGs and I am absolutely loving them The standard stackable units end up with the dryer controls way over my head. Having both the washer and dryer control located in the middle of the unit is the perfect solution for those of us who are height challenged.
