I love nugget ice and this machine makes it perfectly and quickly. The unit I got has the side reservoir and makes the footprint a little larger, but it makes it easy to fill with water. The machine is quiet and quick, can't ask for much more. It was an awesome birthday gift.

Brand new machine made ice, accompanied by a screeching sound every 20 minutes. Not ideal customer service and a bad design. I had to finally unplug machine as it was waking the whole house up 3 times a night in defrost mode, after a week of use the noise was just too much to handle and not worth the ice. Even when machine does work, they seldom go for more than 4-6 months without issues ice machine tech tells me. Had the opal 1, after 3 replacements, I gave up. I was hoping they’d fix the issues on the 2.0, everyone I know with one has had issues as well. Last opal had a 1 year warranty, almost half that year was spent without an ice machine waiting for a replacement, feels like it’s looking like it’s going to happen again

I purchased our ice machine approx 1 month ago, and within weeks of operation, it’s already defective. Makes an extremely loud whining noise from inside the machine. GE customer service thus far, after we registered the product has been abysmal. This is our second nugget ice machine, the first was from 1st build before GE bought the company. Lasted almost 6 years. STAY AWAY this new version is terrible!
