I received my kitchen aid mixer almost two years ago and loved it, but the beater started chipping the first month. At this point there are so many chips, I am concerned that it is not a safe product. I have had $10.00 hand mixers with attachments that last for years without problems. I would have expected better quality attachments to come with the Kitchen Aid stand mixers.

I absolutely love my KitchenAid mixer! It has been running strong for 20 years. I love the attachments (especially the fruit strainer). The beater is the only exception. The enamel chipped off original beater, when it was just a few month old, so I called KitchenAid. The rep said it was my fault for not adjusting the bowl height, so they wouldn't replace it. So I gave in and purchased another one. Before long it was chipping as well. It has nothing to do with bowl height because even the top of the beater, that never touches the bowl or anything is chipped like crazy. I hate to buy another and begin eating enamel again, but not sure what to do.

Like so many others, the coating has chipped off and into my cookies. I hadn't noticed until after we started eating them (fresh from the oven is the BEST!). I need an uncoated version - perhaps stainless or something, so it won't chip into my food.
Where have the metal chips gone?

I love my Kitchen Aid mixer and use it often. The last two days I've spent making Valentine cookies for grade school party next week. Tonight I noticed a large chip of enamel has come off my white coated flat beater. But where is the chip? I'm just sick to think the chip is somewhere in the cookies and I'll need to toss them all. Now I'm reading all the reviews about enamel flat beaters chipping? I'm so disappointed that KitchenAid hasnt resolved this problem! Think twice before you invest in this classic mixer.
Chipping everywhere...

I've had my mixer 5 years now and usually pull it out about 6 times a year. This beater has now started chipping everywhere (and no it is not from hitting the sides of the bowl) Horrible!!!! Wish it has come with a burnished one like the artisan models. How is it that the cheaper models come with ones that won't chip and the more expensive models don't?!?!?! Very disappointing from a consumer standpoint.
