I always thought a mixer was for mixing batters. Boy was I wrong. I have difficulties grasping things because of my disability so cooking became more difficult. However, with Kitchenaid I’m now learning a new way. The Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder is wonderful. Sometimes I use it with other attachments too. But, this one works great to slice carrots, zucchini, pepperoni, cucumbers, cheese, etc. the Shredder attachments work the same as well. I’m no longer trying to use a small handheld item I purchased at a home party what I would cut my fingers on, and had issues with because of my grip issues. This attachment works great! Everyone, experiment.... don’t just use your mixer to mix batters. It’s great with the different attachments for cooking. Plus, I’ve noticed my home cooked meals seem to taste better when made with kitchenaid. I just wish it came with a dicing attachment also. That’s why I gave a 4 for features.

2nd time i've used it and the slicer blade is bent. works horrible for shredding mozzarella cheese. room temp cheese gums it up and frozen cheese won't shred.

I like this set. It is easier to clean than my food processor. Plus I like how I can prep an unlimited amount (I have big gardens). But I does tend to spew veggies everywhere. I need to tip my mixer with a cutting board so things will fall out. It makes a big mess when I am grating veggies like cucumbers and zucchini.
