I have a small kitchen and it ate up a lot of counter space. It basically does the same job as an ice-dispenser in your fridge just a little fancy. Honestly I would not get it unless you have a lot of space.

I was so excited to try out this machine. Nugget ice is the “good ice”. This machine so very easy to use. I trust GE products and this did not disappoint. This ice tasted so much better then regular ice that my refrigerator makes.

There was quite a bit involved in trying to get this ice maker setup. One thing to note is it is very bulky. It doesn't fit on my counters due to how tall it is. Another thing I noticed is the ice that comes out is not very cold. The liquid in my cup seemed to melt the ice almost immediately.

GE Opal Nugget Ice Machine is awesome. Easy to set up. Make sure you clean it about 4 times before using. Needs to be cleaned about every 3 weeks. It tells you when it’s cleaning, making ice. You need to fill the tank with water. Doesn’t take long to make ice. The only negative thing are it’s a little hard to put water in the bottom of the tank. I love it so far.

This is the small appliance you never knew you needed! Installation is a breeze with the instruction guide. The first thing you do is fill it with water and let the machine run a ‘clean’ cycle. After that you locate and remove the screened intake cap and place in the water filter. I appreciate the side tank being a free floating piece so that you can place it on either side of the ice machine. The water lines in the rear of the machine are labeled and easy to handle. After draining the water from the clean cycle, by letting the lines hang right over into the kitchen sink. I was able to attach the side tank line and put the machine in place. The machine is quiet, I can hear the fish tank filter over the machine. It didn’t take long to hear ice being made, impressive. The LED screen lets you know when it’s ‘making ice’ and then ‘ice bin full’. I love that it dispenses the ice, there’s no bin to open or need for a scoop! If using a tall glass you can place it right under the dispenser and hit the button. If using a short glass, I suggest holding your glass up near the dispenser as the ice falls out. Overall I am very happy with the Opal Nugget Ice Maker. Everyone is enjoying the fun and convenience of having filtered fancy ice! I will add the taste of the ice is perfect, but we do not use tap water and I know everyone’s water source will determine how your ice tastes and how often you will need to descale your machine. We’ve chosen to fill our reservoir with already filtered water.
